Berlin
The Berlin SWITCH Hub accelerates local food system transformation by strengthening community-based food initiatives and scaling local sourcing across Berlin and the surrounding Brandenburg region.
The Berlin–Brandenburg Hub of the SWITCH project is led by VFnuK (Verein zur Förderung einer nachhaltigen urbanen Kultur e.V.), the coordinating organization behind Berlin’s network of neighbourhood food hubs, LebensMittelPunkte (LMP).
What’s the goal of the hub?
Through the LMP initiative, the Berlin Hub supports self-organized neighbourhood spaces that combine access to healthy, sustainable food with education, community building, and social inclusion. Acting as project office, facilitator, and living lab, the VFnuK provides consulting, training, and coordination for neighborhood food hubs, while connecting local actors with regional agroecological producers, science, civil society initiatives, health and nutrition professionals as well as public administrations. Embedded in Berlin’s food strategy, the ongoing SWITCH Hub activities focus on scaling existing local solutions, expanding neighbourhood food hubs, and strengthening links between policy, practice, and science.
