himmelbeet – Growing Community and Sustainable Food in Berlin-Wedding
himmelbeet is a collective urban gardening project in Berlin-Wedding, combining social engagement with ecological gardening. The project manages two sites: the Himmelbeet Garden and the ElisaBeet.

The himmelbeet garden has around 200 raised beds available for annual leases, offering Berliners the chance to grow their own vegetables while connecting with the local community. Founded in 2012 on the SchillerPark Center, the garden moved to its current location in 2021/22, expanding its capacity and community reach.
In 2025, VFnuK supported himmelbeet in improving their kitchen space and organisation. Through workshop and hands-on-support, VFnuK helped Himmelbeet to organise community cooking events connecting neighbors and different communities.
The cooperation continues in 2026, with the Berlin Hub supporting the creation of a distribution hub for community-supported agriculture within the garden. himmelbeet will serve as a local distribution point for seasonal vegetables in Wedding, linking urban gardeners, CSA farmers, and the neighborhood.
