Inauguration of the Food Solidarity House of Celleneuve: la Superluette
On February 7, the keys to the Maison de l’Alimentation Solidaire in Celleneuve were officially handed over in Montpellier: a new public space dedicated to ensuring fair and dignified access to quality food.
The project was created in response to growing difficulties in accessing food and addresses broader challenges related to social cohesion and public health.
It goes beyond food aid, serving as a space for connection, education, and community participation.
Designed together with local residents, it aims to strengthen social ties, promote the role of women in public life, and develop food education initiatives with schools and families.
The fully renovated facility, equipped with a professional kitchen, will be managed by L’Esperluette, Vrac & Cocinas, La Caisse Alimentaire Commune, and LaBoca, with support from the French government (France 2030) and the European Union (ERDF). The initiative is supported by SWITCH, and activities will open to the public on April 13.
A concrete example of how public policy, civil society, and European cooperation can work together to build more just and inclusive food systems.
